what's my story?

In case you are interested - my passion for cooking was born out of necessity. A decade ago I would not be able to put scrambled eggs together to save my life. And that’s not an over-claim. Sad but true.

Yet, I have my excuses:

Excuse # 1:

I was born and spent my childhood in the country where dumplings are the height of gastronomic delight. Yes, I’m talking about Poland.

Excuse # 2:

My Mum is a dreadful cook (sorry Mum, but that’s the truth), so as kids my sister and I could only dream about Sunday roast. Or visit other peoples’ homes.

Excuse # 3:

I’ve been busy. Work, work , work. Stress, stress, stress. Where’s the nearest M&S?

It was all fine until I got marched off to a gastroenterologist who told me my guts were messed up. What followed was a total transformation in my attitude to eating and – a long story short – I decided to eat properly no matter how busy my life would get. The challenge was I didn’t know how.

So I went on cooking courses and bought the books.

I learnt to cook and during the process, I discovered that I actually enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, provided I didn’t have to stand over the stove for hours. I haven’t got the time or patience for that!

Fast forward a few years and here we are: I have created a collection of wholesome recipes that anyone, even with basic cooking skills, can prepare after a long day at work. Because that’s the difficult bit isn’t it? – eating something decent at the end of the day, when you’re tired and the easiest thing to do is to grab that ready-made pasta...

And that’s all there is to it. Er, one more thing - pardon the bad manners: I’m Gera Dunachie by the way, and I’m the impatient chef.
